A few useful details

Good to know.
Easy to start.

Is it free, and do I need an API key?

FX Currency Converter is free and open source, with no API key required. The plugin uses an external exchange-rate service; it needs that service to be available to refresh its cached data.

Will it fit my WordPress editor and design?

Use its native FX Currency Converter block, a Shortcode block, or the PHP helper. The output is inline HTML, so it can sit inside your own content and inherit your typography. The cards on this page are example layouts, not bundled plugin themes.

Which currencies and rate sources can I use?

The playground offers 12 representative currencies and assets using CurrencyRate.Today. The plugin’s admin tools expose a broader currency list and alternative providers. Use a source that includes both currencies in your pair; availability and update times vary by provider.

Can I control the wording and number format?

Yes. Choose decimal precision, a symbol or flag before and after the result, and an optional attribution link. Templates place the calculated amount wherever you put %result%. Number separators follow your WordPress locale.

Can visitors change the amount? Does it change checkout prices?

FX displays the conversion configured by the site author. It does not add visitor input fields or change billing, checkout prices or prices elsewhere in your content. For a calculator visitors can operate, explore Currency Converter Calculator.

Where do the rates come from, and how fresh are they?

The plugin requests data from api-bank.fex.to and caches each source for an hour. An expired cache refreshes when the plugin is next used; source publication times and page caching also affect what readers see. The examples show their source timestamp. See the plugin’s service disclosure. Rates are informational, not guaranteed transaction prices.
